Directive (EU) 2024/825 · applies from 27 September 2026

The EU legal guarantee notice, on your product pages

From 27 September 2026, traders have to give EU consumers a harmonised notice about the legal guarantee. StoreCompliant shows the official EU legal guarantee notice under the price as a link, a compact card or the notice itself, unchanged and in the shopper’s language.

Free on every plan. Available for Wix Stores.

The official EU legal guarantee notice opened over a product page: a blue “Legal guarantee” header, the text “Minimum two-year legal guarantee protection for goods sold in the European Union”, and what to do if goods do not conform.

The rule

What the notice is

A single, standard reminder of a right every EU consumer already has: the legal guarantee of conformity, for a minimum of two years.

Directive (EU) 2024/825, known as the “Empowering consumers for the green transition” directive, amends the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU. Traders must provide a harmonised notice that reminds consumers of the legal guarantee of conformity. The same notice is used across the EU, so a shopper recognises it in any shop.

  • Design and content are fixed. They were set by a Commission implementing regulation in 2025. Shops do not write their own version.
  • It applies from 27 September 2026.
  • The directive also provides for a harmonised label where a producer offers a commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years at no extra cost. That label is a separate item.

Guide: the EU legal guarantee notice explained

On your storefront

How the app shows the legal guarantee notice

Three forms to choose from in the dashboard, under “Show as”. The directive asks for the notice to be given “in a prominent manner”; the app gives you the options, and you decide which one suits your shop.

Option 1

Link

The link reads “Your legal guarantee rights”. It sits under the price on the product page, where a shopper is deciding. One click opens the notice over the page; closing it returns the shopper to the product.

Option 2

Compact card

The key fact, “Minimum two-year legal guarantee”, in bold and in the shopper’s language, with the same link under it.

Option 3

Full notice

The official notice itself sits on the product page under the price, in colour, with the link to the EU’s Your Europe page beneath it. A click enlarges it.

Optional

A widget you place yourself

Place the notice as a widget to show it elsewhere, for example the full notice further down the page; the widget has the same three choices of its own. Where it is shown, the automatic notice under the price hides itself. On Wix you add it from the Editor, under Add Elements → App Widgets.

The official artwork, unchanged

The notice is the Commission’s own artwork. The app does not redraw it, restyle it or shorten it, so what your shoppers see is the notice as published.

In the shopper’s language

The notice is shown in the language of the shop page, in any of the 24 official EU languages. There is nothing for you to translate.

Free on every plan

The legal guarantee notice is included on all plans, the free plan too. Paid plans can show it to EU and EEA visitors only.

What it leaves to you

The notice is shown; the guarantee is yours to honour

  • The app displays the notice. Handling a claim under the legal guarantee, such as a repair or a replacement, stays between you and your customer.
  • Form and placement are your call. The directive requires the notice “in a prominent manner” before the consumer is bound, and names no page or position. The link, the compact card and the notice itself are ways of showing it; the app does not decide whether a given choice is prominent enough for your shop and the countries you sell to. The guide explains what the texts say.
  • It does not add the harmonised label for a producer’s commercial guarantee of durability.
  • StoreCompliant is a compliance aid, not legal advice. If you are unsure whether or how the rule applies to what you sell, ask a lawyer.

Questions about the legal guarantee notice

What is the EU legal guarantee notice?

It is a harmonised notice that reminds consumers of the legal guarantee of conformity, which lasts a minimum of two years for goods sold in the EU. Directive (EU) 2024/825 added it to the Consumer Rights Directive, and the Commission set its design and content in 2025. The guide to the EU legal guarantee notice explains the rule.

From when does the notice have to be shown?

The rules in Directive (EU) 2024/825 apply from 27 September 2026.

Can I change the design or the text of the notice?

No, and that is on purpose. The app shows the official artwork exactly as published. What you choose is its form and its place: a link, a compact card or the notice itself, under the price or in a widget.

Which of the three should I choose?

The directive says the notice must be provided “in a prominent manner” before the consumer is bound by the contract, and it names no page or position. From least to most visible, the app offers a link, a compact card and the notice itself. Which one is prominent enough for your shop is a judgement against the national law of the countries you sell to; you make it, not the app, and this is not legal advice.

Which language does a shopper see?

The notice is shown in the language of the shop page. All 24 official EU languages are covered.

Does the legal guarantee notice cost extra?

No. It is free on every plan, including the free plan. See pricing.

Does the app also add the label for a producer’s durability guarantee?

No. The directive also provides for a harmonised label where a producer offers a commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years at no extra cost. That label is a separate item and is not something the app adds to your pages.
