FAQ

Frequently asked questions about EU shop rules and StoreCompliant

This FAQ answers the questions shop owners ask most: what the three EU rules say, what StoreCompliant shows on a shop, how set-up and pricing work, and what data the app stores.

The rules

What EU consumer law asks an online shop to show. The guides go into each rule in detail.

What is the 30-day lowest price rule?

When a shop announces a price reduction, it must state the prior price: the lowest price it applied during a period of not less than 30 days before the reduction. The rule comes from the Omnibus Directive (EU) 2019/2161, which added Article 6a to the Price Indication Directive 98/6/EC, and has applied since 28 May 2022. See the guide to the 30-day lowest price rule.

Are there exceptions to the 30-day rule?

The directive lets Member States set different rules for goods liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly, for goods on the market for less than 30 days and for progressively increasing reductions. What applies depends on the country you sell to, so check the national rules.

What is the EU legal guarantee notice, and from when does it apply?

Directive (EU) 2024/825 requires traders to provide a harmonised notice that reminds consumers of the legal guarantee of conformity, which lasts a minimum of two years. The Commission set the design and content of the notice in 2025, and the rule applies from 27 September 2026. See the guide to the EU legal guarantee notice.

What is the EU withdrawal button, and from when does it apply?

Directive (EU) 2023/2673 adds Article 11a to the Consumer Rights Directive. For distance contracts concluded through an online interface, the trader must offer a withdrawal function labelled “withdraw from contract here” or an equally unambiguous wording, and must acknowledge each withdrawal with the date and time. It applies from 19 June 2026. See the guide to the EU withdrawal button.

How long does a consumer have to withdraw from an online purchase?

The standard withdrawal period for distance sales is 14 days, under Article 9 of the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU.

My shop is based outside the EU. Do these rules still matter?

They apply when you sell to consumers in the EU or EEA, whatever your shop’s home country. If you also sell elsewhere, paid plans let you show each feature to EU and EEA visitors only.

The app

What StoreCompliant shows, how it works out its figures and where it stops.

What does StoreCompliant put on my shop?

Three things: a 30-day lowest price line under every discounted price, the official EU legal guarantee notice, and a withdrawal button with a short form. Each one can be switched on or off on its own.

Does StoreCompliant make my shop legally compliant?

No app can promise that, and we do not. StoreCompliant is a compliance aid, not legal advice: it helps you display information that EU rules ask for and keeps records of it. Your prices, your promotions and your compliance stay your responsibility.

How is the 30-day lowest price worked out?

The app records every price change from the moment it is installed, for each variant. When a variant is discounted, it shows the lowest price on record for the 30 days before that discount started. The line is shown only while the product is discounted.

What happens with products that were already on sale when I install the app?

The app has no record of what they cost before the sale, so it shows nothing for them rather than a figure it has no record for. Import their earlier prices from a CSV file and the line appears.

What is the “was” price check?

The dashboard flags discounts whose crossed-out price is higher than anything on record for the 30 days before the discount. It tells you what is on record so you can look at that discount; it does not change your prices.

What happens when a shopper uses the withdrawal button?

They enter their name, order number and email address, optionally name the items, and confirm in a second step. They receive a dated confirmation email, and the request appears in your dashboard log with a reference number and the status New. The refund and the return stay with you.

Which languages does it support?

Everything shoppers see is available in all 24 official EU languages and is chosen automatically from the language of the shop page. The merchant dashboard is available in 20 languages.

Set-up and platforms

Where the app runs and what installing it involves.

Which shop platforms does StoreCompliant work with?

Wix Stores comes first: the app is available on the Wix App Market. A Shopify version is in development and a WooCommerce version is planned. See platforms for the current state of each.

Do I need to edit code or my theme?

No. There is no code to paste and no theme to edit. A “Set up” checklist in the dashboard lists the steps that are left.

How do the three features get onto a Wix site?

The price line adds itself to the product page as a plugin. The legal guarantee notice sits under the price and the withdrawal button is a bar on every page by default; both can also be placed as widgets from the Wix Editor, under Add Elements → App Widgets. See StoreCompliant for Wix.

Can I show the notices to EU visitors only?

Yes, on paid plans. Each feature can be shown to visitors from the EU and EEA only, which suits shops that also sell outside Europe.

Pricing and plans

The short version. The pricing page has the full comparison.

How much does StoreCompliant cost?

It is free for up to 50 products, with all three features. Paid plans are Starter at $4.99 a month for up to 250 products, Growth at $14.99 a month for up to 2,500 and Unlimited at $49.99 a month. See pricing.

What do the paid plans add?

More products, plus the price evidence export (PDF and CSV), your own wording for the price line, the option to show each feature to EU and EEA visitors only, and an order check and CSV export for withdrawal requests.

What happens if I go over the product limit of my plan?

A shop on a paid plan keeps full coverage for 14 days before the limit applies, which leaves time to change plan. On the free plan, the first 50 products are covered.

How is billing handled?

Billing runs through the platform your shop is on. For Wix, that means the plan is charged through your Wix account, not through this website.

Data and privacy

What the app stores and for how long.

What data does StoreCompliant store?

Catalogue data (product and variant IDs, names, prices, the times of price changes and the currency) and your shop’s settings. For withdrawal requests only, it also stores the shopper’s name, email address, order number, items, language and the time of the request. The service is hosted on Cloudflare.

Does the app track shoppers or set cookies on my storefront?

It sets no tracking cookies on the storefront, and data is not sold. See the privacy policy for the details.

How long is withdrawal data kept?

Withdrawal data is deleted after 3 years, when you uninstall the app, or on request. To ask for deletion, write to privacy@storecompliant.com.

Did not find your question? Write to support@storecompliant.com. StoreCompliant is a compliance aid, not legal advice; for how a rule applies to your shop, ask a lawyer.
